Вот не знаю, о чем там спорят некоторые народы касательно аланов, но вот британцы в своей большой энциклопедии Britannica пишут однозначно (вряд ли их осетины подкупили):
"Ossetians. They are a remnant of the eastern Iranian nomads who roamed the south Western Steppe from the 7th century bce until the 4th century ce (when they were dispelled by the Huns) and who were successively known as Scythians, Sarmatians, and Alans."
Рус. "Осетины. Они являются остатками восточноиранских кочевников, которые кочевали по Юго-западной степи с 7-го века до нашей эры до 4-го века нашей эры (когда они были рассеяны гуннами) и которые были последовательно известны как скифы, сарматы и аланы."

Official government accounts have also spread fake fact checks. An official Twitter account for the Russia diplomatic mission in Geneva shared a fake debunking video claiming without evidence that "Western and Ukrainian media are creating thousands of fake news on Russia every day." The video, which has amassed almost 30,000 views, offered a "how-to" spot misinformation. In 2014, Pavel Durov fled the country after allies of the Kremlin took control of the social networking site most know just as VK. Russia's intelligence agency had asked Durov to turn over the data of anti-Kremlin protesters. Durov refused to do so. Telegram was founded in 2013 by two Russian brothers, Nikolai and Pavel Durov. He floated the idea of restricting the use of Telegram in Ukraine and Russia, a suggestion that was met with fierce opposition from users. Shortly after, Durov backed off the idea. Also in the latest update is the ability for users to create a unique @username from the Settings page, providing others with an easy way to contact them via Search or their t.me/username link without sharing their phone number.
