В ходе беседы состоялся обстоятельный обмен мнениями по актуальным темам международной и региональной повестки дня с акцентом на ситуацию в Курдском автономном районе (КАР) в контексте подготовки к запланированным на 20 октября парламентским выборам в автономии. Были также затронуты пути укрепления традиционно дружественных связей России с КАР.
On July 31, Mr. Maxim Rubin, Consul General of Russia in Erbil, met with Mr. Hemin Hawrami, member of the Kurdistan Democratic Party Politburo. During the conversation, the parties exchanged their views on current topics on the international and regional agenda, with an emphasis on the situation in the Kurdish Autonomous Region (KAR) in the context of preparations for the parliamentary elections scheduled for October 20. Ways to strengthen the traditionally friendly ties between Russia and the autonomy were also touched upon.

Telegram was originally launched as a side project by the Durov brothers, with Nikolai handling the coding and Pavel as CEO, while both were at VK. Soloviev also promoted the channel in a post he shared on his own Telegram, which has 580,000 followers. The post recommended his viewers subscribe to "War on Fakes" in a time of fake news. "Your messages about the movement of the enemy through the official chatbot … bring new trophies every day," the government agency tweeted. At its heart, Telegram is little more than a messaging app like WhatsApp or Signal. But it also offers open channels that enable a single user, or a group of users, to communicate with large numbers in a method similar to a Twitter account. This has proven to be both a blessing and a curse for Telegram and its users, since these channels can be used for both good and ill. Right now, as Wired reports, the app is a key way for Ukrainians to receive updates from the government during the invasion. Apparently upbeat developments in Russia's discussions with Ukraine helped at least temporarily send investors back into risk assets. Russian President Vladimir Putin said during a meeting with his Belarusian counterpart Alexander Lukashenko that there were "certain positive developments" occurring in the talks with Ukraine, according to a transcript of their meeting. Putin added that discussions were happening "almost on a daily basis."
