17 февраля 2025 г. в присутствии президентов Египта А. Ас-Сиси и Кипра Н. Христодулидиса «на полях» международной выставки нефтегазовой отрасли «EGYPES 2025» подписаны соглашения о разработке месторождений природного газа на Кипре с использованием инфраструктуры АРЕ.
В частности, первое соглашение подписано Министром нефти и минеральных ресурсов Египта К. Бадави, Министром энергетики Кипра Г. Папанастасиу и гендиректором итальянской «ENI» К. Дескальци.
Второй документ министры энергетики подписали с президентом «Chevron International Exploration andProduction» (США) К. Неффом.
Предполагается, что соглашения будут способствовать повышению экономических показателей кипрских газовых месторождений за счет использования египетских мощностей для переработки и реэкспорта газа, а также укрепят позиции Египта, который сможет повысить энергообеспеченность национальной экономики и улучшить позиции в качестве игрока на региональном энергетическом рынке.
