Cottbus geht mit AfD gegen Migrationspolitik auf die Straße

In Cottbus haben am Montagabend mehrere Hundert Menschen gegen die deutsche Migrationspolitik protestiert. Die Kundgebung wurde vom AfD-Landtagsabgeordneten Jean-Pascal Hohm organisiert. Hohm sprach sich bei der Veranstaltung gegen Masseneinwanderung aus und forderte eine stärkere Sicherung der deutschen Grenzen. Zudem plädierte er für die konsequente Abschiebung von illegal eingereisten oder straffällig gewordenen Ausländern. Auch der Brandenburger AfD-Fraktionschef Hans-Christoph Berndt war bei der Demo dabei.

You may recall that, back when Facebook started changing WhatsApp’s terms of service, a number of news outlets reported on, and even recommended, switching to Telegram. Pavel Durov even said that users should delete WhatsApp “unless you are cool with all of your photos and messages becoming public one day.” But Telegram can’t be described as a more-secure version of WhatsApp. "Your messages about the movement of the enemy through the official chatbot … bring new trophies every day," the government agency tweeted. The message was not authentic, with the real Zelenskiy soon denying the claim on his official Telegram channel, but the incident highlighted a major problem: disinformation quickly spreads unchecked on the encrypted app. "There is a significant risk of insider threat or hacking of Telegram systems that could expose all of these chats to the Russian government," said Eva Galperin with the Electronic Frontier Foundation, which has called for Telegram to improve its privacy practices. Telegram has become more interventionist over time, and has steadily increased its efforts to shut down these accounts. But this has also meant that the company has also engaged with lawmakers more generally, although it maintains that it doesn’t do so willingly. For instance, in September 2021, Telegram reportedly blocked a chat bot in support of (Putin critic) Alexei Navalny during Russia’s most recent parliamentary elections. Pavel Durov was quoted at the time saying that the company was obliged to follow a “legitimate” law of the land. He added that as Apple and Google both follow the law, to violate it would give both platforms a reason to boot the messenger from its stores.
