книга Белла Man of Mathematics (самая интересная книга по истории математики на английском) читается взахлёб. Биографии математиков с органично вплетающимися байками, однако не всегда правдивыми, как признаётся автор:
"It should be noted that the modern higher criticism which has been so effective in discrediting all the interesting anecdotes in the history of mathematics has shown that the astronomical problem was in no way responsible for the loss of Euler’s eye. But how the scholarly critics (or anyone else) come to know so much about the so-called law of cause and effect is a mystery for David Hume’s (a contemporary of Euler) ghost to resolve."
Про Эйлера как минимум половина баек переврана (если не больше). Тем не менее, всячески рекомендую как изящное и вдохновляющее чтение на английском на ночь.
Как минимум Нэш, Робинсон и Дайсон вдохновились книгой настолько, что стали математиками.

In a message on his Telegram channel recently recounting the episode, Durov wrote: "I lost my company and my home, but would do it again – without hesitation." But Telegram says people want to keep their chat history when they get a new phone, and they like having a data backup that will sync their chats across multiple devices. And that is why they let people choose whether they want their messages to be encrypted or not. When not turned on, though, chats are stored on Telegram's services, which are scattered throughout the world. But it has "disclosed 0 bytes of user data to third parties, including governments," Telegram states on its website.
