Al'akhlas lab Telegram | DID YOU KNOW?
Date: | Al'akhlas lab
Despite Telegram's origins, its approach to users' security has privacy advocates worried. The account, "War on Fakes," was created on February 24, the same day Russian President Vladimir Putin announced a "special military operation" and troops began invading Ukraine. The page is rife with disinformation, according to The Atlantic Council's Digital Forensic Research Lab, which studies digital extremism and published a report examining the channel. The Security Service of Ukraine said in a tweet that it was able to effectively target Russian convoys near Kyiv because of messages sent to an official Telegram bot account called "STOP Russian War." Although some channels have been removed, the curation process is considered opaque and insufficient by analysts. For example, WhatsApp restricted the number of times a user could forward something, and developed automated systems that detect and flag objectionable content.
