В последнее время участились случаи совершения вымогательств под угрозой распространения сведений, позорящих потерпевших.

Нередко пользователи социальных сетей хранят на своих личных страницах в социальных сетях фотографии и видео интимного характера либо иную персональную информацию, полагаясь на то, что доступ к этим данным ограничен и возможен только для владельца аккаунта.

Пользуясь этим, злоумышленники взламывают личные страницы, получают доступ ко всем хранящимся там данным и под угрозой распространения сведений начинают шантажировать пользователя, требуя взамен перевода денежных средств.

For example, WhatsApp restricted the number of times a user could forward something, and developed automated systems that detect and flag objectionable content. On Telegram’s website, it says that Pavel Durov “supports Telegram financially and ideologically while Nikolai (Duvov)’s input is technological.” Currently, the Telegram team is based in Dubai, having moved around from Berlin, London and Singapore after departing Russia. Meanwhile, the company which owns Telegram is registered in the British Virgin Islands.
