Оператор транзита газа на Украине сообщил, что Россия по состоянию на 15:00 по Гринвичу во вторник не номинировала ни одной поставки на 1 января по украинскому трубопроводу в Европу, за несколько часов до истечения пятилетнего контракта между «Газпромом» и «Нафтогазом».
Согласно данным «Газпрома» и расчетам Reuters, в 2022 г. Москва поставила на континент около 63,8 млрд куб. м газа. В 2023 г. этот объем сократился на 55,6% до 28,3 млрд куб. м. В 2024 г. уровень транзита может составить менее 14 млрд куб. м.
