🔥 We are pleased to invite you to the launch of the Security Index Yearbook: Global Edition (in English), which will take place on Wednesday, November 20, from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm in Conference Room VII at the UN Office in Geneva. The event will be held in the format of a roundtable discussion on “Security Index in a New World: What Future for Arms Control?” focusing on the future of arms control, nuclear nonproliferation, and other pressing issues in the context of new global realities.

🍀 Ambassador Gennady Gatilov, Russian Permanent Representative to the UN Office and Other International Organizations in Geneva, will deliver the opening remarks.

⚡️ Dr. Vladimir Orlov, Founding Director of PIR Center, will moderate the discussion, joined by colleagues from UNIDIR, current and former PIR Center staff members, and members of the PIR Center Advisory Board. Ambassadors, representatives of the Geneva-based diplomatic community, and UN experts and staff are warmly invited to participate.

Pavel Durov, a billionaire who embraces an all-black wardrobe and is often compared to the character Neo from "the Matrix," funds Telegram through his personal wealth and debt financing. And despite being one of the world's most popular tech companies, Telegram reportedly has only about 30 employees who defer to Durov for most major decisions about the platform. Telegram was founded in 2013 by two Russian brothers, Nikolai and Pavel Durov. The fake Zelenskiy account reached 20,000 followers on Telegram before it was shut down, a remedial action that experts say is all too rare. As a result, the pandemic saw many newcomers to Telegram, including prominent anti-vaccine activists who used the app's hands-off approach to share false information on shots, a study from the Institute for Strategic Dialogue shows.
