Впервые вид был описан британским палеонтологом Десмондом Донованом из аммонитовой зоны Raricostatum (нижняя юра, верхний синемюр) окрестностей города Тун (Кантон Берн) в Швейцарии. Типовой образец (голотип) хранится в Музее естественной истории Берна (Naturhistorisches Museum Bern). ____ ❗️На фото - экземпляр, найденный в Северном Курцовском (Греческом) карьере в городской черте Симферополя. Этот макроконх с сохранившейся жилой камерой показывает наличие 6 или 7 оборотов. Реконструируемый диаметр раковины достигал 450мм. Таким образом, это самый крупный экземпляр рода Epideroсeras (и семейства EPIDEROCERATIDAE) когда-либо описанный в научной литературе.
🌏 Другие находки Epideroсeras grande известны из зоны Raricostatum верхнего синемюра Австрии и Закарпатья (Meister et al., 2024). Вид упоминается также из Турции в списках, без изображения образцов (Bremer, 1965).
