В Москве открылся Сеченовский центр материнства и детства, превратившийся после модернизации в федеральный перинатальный центр. По словам Министра здравоохранения РФ М. А. Мурашко, если раньше в клинике можно было принимать 2,5 тысячи родов в год, то сейчас – до четырёх тысяч. Помимо прочего, в центре есть отделение анестезиологии и реанимации, отделение выхаживания новорождённых, возможность совместного пребывания матери и ребёнка. По словам ректора Первого Московского государственного медицинского университета имени И. М. Сеченова П. В. Глыбочко, центр будут использовать также для подготовки кадров для системы здравоохранения.
