Syrian army forces withdraw from Deir ez-Zur in eastern Syria and move toward Damascus

This morning, channels associated with the Syrian opposition reported that Assad's forces handed over territories to the Kurds and began evacuating from Deir ez-Zur on their way to Damascus. It seems that Assad is seeking to protect the important stronghold and is relinquishing control over other areas in order to do so.

The battle for Damascus will be the fight of his life.

Telegram is certainly not the most secure messaging app on the market right now. Its security model requires users to place a great deal of trust in Telegram’s ability to protect user data. What distinguishes the app from competitors is its use of what's known as channels: Public or private feeds of photos and videos that can be set up by one person or an organization. The channels can be followed by an unlimited number of people. Unlike Facebook, Twitter and other popular social networks, there is no advertising on Telegram and the flow of information is not driven by an algorithm. After fleeing Russia, the brothers founded Telegram as a way to communicate outside the Kremlin's orbit. They now run it from Dubai, and Pavel Durov says it has more than 500 million monthly active users.
