Сообщается, что в тюрьме Сейдная обнаружили груды обуви и одежды. Видимо, она принадлежала казнённым режимом Асадов.

К слову, беглые нацисты помогали сирийским спецслужбам ещё в 1950-60-х (до Асадов). Среди них были Franz Stangl, комендант лагеря уничтожения Треблинка, а также Алоис Бруннер – человек номер два в Гестапо.

В годы Второй мировой войны Бруннер занимался «еврейским вопросом», а с конца 1950-х обучал сирийские спецслужбы нацистским методам пыток. Он даже просил своих сирийских нанимателей вызволить Адольфа Эйхмана, похищенного Моссадом из Аргентины. Но те вежливо отказали.
