Местные жители сообщили изданию «Черновик», что силовики задержали Османова за создание террористической ячейки в Ханты-Мансийском автономном округе. Это якобы произошло 10 лет назад. По словам близких задержанного, он в то время был в Дагестане, а не в ХМАО.
