Учрежденная в 2006 году, эта награда давно стала престижным и общепризнанным подтверждением журналистских творческих достижений. В том числе благодаря тому, что в составе жюри премии - не только чиновники, но и представители журналистского цеха.
Особо отметим, что из двадцати членов ныне действующего жюри десять - члены Союза журналистов России.
