По данным Камчатского филиала геофизической службы РАН, эпицентр сейсмособытия, случившегося в 9:19 21 января, находился в 160 км юго-западнее села Никольское, расположенного на острове Беринга (Алеутский округ).
Очаг залегал на глубине 52 км под морским дном.
По данным МЧС, это землетрясение в населенных пунктах не ощущалось. Угроза цунами не объявлялась.
