Зі слів міської громади, назва є історичною, бо саме на цій вулиці у 2002 році 2 дні проживав президент РФ. Одесити наголошують, що називали вулицю ще задовго до подій 2014. Мовляв, в ті часи Путін ставився до Укрїни і Одеси дуже компліментарно, а тому намагатись змінити минуле і натягувати його на сучасні реалії - недоречно і не на часі.
