Участок — частью сухопутного коридора в Крым и так называемого Азовского кольца. Его открыли с опережением более чем на год. Постарались расширить трассу до четырех полос, поставили разделители, переходы и т.д.
По расчетам Правительства, модернизация «Новороссии» увеличит её пропускную способность до 25.000 грузовых и пассажирских автомобилей в сутки, то есть сухопутный путь в Крым и с полуострова станет еще комфортнее.
