Gosh, what a touching comment...
I remember when I was little I actually tried to do this in minecraft vanilla but it obviously didn´t work, so I got a little frustrated doing it over and over again and failing. My father noticed that I was struggling doing something infront of the PC for like 30 minutes so he started trying to help me by watching the video with me and repeating the steps himself. Again it didn´t worked out so I just got very sad and decided to surrender in my attempts.
The next day, when I came back from school, my dad approached me very happy and told me that, while I was in school, he played the game and actually found a way of opening the portal. In that moment he told me something like "we had to make it in a limited time", so without thinking about it I got really excited and just started playing the mod with my father and we had such a good time.
Years later, when we were talking about gaming anecdotes, my father told me that, when he saw that I was very sad because I couldn't make the portal, he actually started investigating and found out what is a mod and how to install them in the game, so he just downloaded it and then lied to me about it so it wouldn´t break my illussion. I still remember this fondly, I think is one of the coolest things my dad has ever made!
