Немецкий дочерний локомотивостроитель китайской CRRC заключил контракт на поставку 8 локомотивов DE 18 грузовому перевозчику Polo Logistica (входит в национальную железнодорожную компанию FS). Ранее тепловозы данной модели хорошо себя зарекомендовали во время выполнения маневровых работ в Неаполе и Турине, а также на паромной переправе между континентальной Италией и островом Сицилия.
Четырехосные локомотивы DE 18 мощностью 1,8 МВт рассчитаны на эксплуатацию с максимальной скоростью 120 км/ч. Сила тяги при трогании с места составляет 291 кН. В тепловозах заложена возможность использования гидроочищенного растительного масла (HVO) наряду с дизелем. Кроме того, машины оснащены аккумуляторной батареей с запасом хода более одного часа для эксплуатации в депо и тоннелях. С 2014 года реализовано более 130 машин данной серии.
