This ability to mix the public and the private, as well as the ability to use bots to engage with users has proved to be problematic. Since the Russian invasion of Ukraine, Telegram has remained an important lifeline for both Russians and Ukrainians, as a way of staying aware of the latest news and keeping in touch with loved ones. This provided opportunity to their linked entities to offload their shares at higher prices and make significant profits at the cost of unsuspecting retail investors. Members of the public who suspect that they have been approached by unauthorised firms or individuals offering schemes that promise unrealistic returns
