Neben der Brandenburger Landtagswahl fand in einem Cottbuser Wahllokal (Ströbitz) auch eine Wiederholung der Kommunalwahl statt. Dort wurden ursprünglich falsche Stimmenzettel ausgegeben.
Die Folge der erneuten Wahl: Robert Amat Kreft verlässt das Stadtparlament und tauscht seinen Platz mit Nadeem Manjouneh. Beide traten gemeinsam für die Wählergruppe SUB- Sozialer Umbruch Cottbus an.
Manjouneh ist nach eigenen Angaben als Syrischer Flüchtling nach Deutschland gekommen. Beruflich ist er ist in der Migrationssozialarbeit beschäftigt.
Er hatte mit seinen Standpunkten zu Migration und Einwanderung beim Stadtgespräch zur Kommunalwahl bereits für kontroverse Diskussionen gesorgt.
