До повномасштабного вторгнення дівчина була менеджеркою реформи Суспільного, також реалізовувала освітні проєкти у віддалених селах Донеччини й Луганщини. На початку вторгнення Ірина зайняла позицію старшої екіпажу в «Госпітальєрах».
«Прожити цей період в якихось подорожах, університетах, навчальних програмах, обмінах і так далі, звичайно, цікаво і було б непогано, але ніхто у світі з молодих людей не має спроможності виборювати власну свободу», — розповідала раніше Ірина в інтерв'ю Суспільному.
