من أوجه التعبُّد لله: إحياء الشعائر المهجورة بقصد الإسوة.
ومن تلك المسالك: الزهد، لا سيما في بواكير العمر ومرحلة الشباب الذي تكون فيه النفس أكثر تطلعاً للدنيا وطموحاً في زخرفها، ولو وجد الشباب نموذجاً يقارب ذلك في واقعهم لتأسّوا به.
وكذلك: الانقطاع للعبادة أو حمل النفس على الإكثار منها في هذه الفترة. وغير ذلك من المسالك.
والشرط فيها أن يعمل ذلك لوجه الله، وتطلباً لرضاه، وقصداً في القرب منه إيثاراً له ومخافة منه. لا ليقال: فلان عابد، أو فلان زاهد، فمن فعلها بهذه النية فقد أوبق دنياه وآخرته.
والاقتداء في العلم وطلبه بحمدالله كثير، لكن أوجه الخير الأخرى التي كان السلف فيها مضرب المثل: بحاجة لبعث وإحياء
