Национальный центр безопасности продукции водного промысла и аквакультуры связывает снижение производства натуральной икры с уменьшением добычи лососевых видов рыб. В 2023 году было добыто 608 тыс. тонн, а в 2024-м — на 62% меньше, 230 тыс. тонн.
Резкий рост цен и снижение предложения привели к сокращению потребительского спроса. В августе—сентябре 2024 года розничные продажи в целом по России снизились на 8%, а в Москве — на 14%. К декабрю ситуация усугубится из-за сокращения запасов.
