Мушхушшу, согласно эпосу о сотворении мира Энума элиш, был одним из монстров, созданных Тиамат, воплощением первобытного хаоса и соленых вод океана. После победы Мардука над Тиамат мушхушшу становится добрым драконом и постоянным спутником Мардука. Именно поэтому он изображен на воротах Иштар, ведущих в Вавилон, город Мардука.

Кстати дракон Мушу из мультфильма "Мулан", хотя и очень красный и китайский, но по всем признакам, на мой взгляд, похож на мушхушшу.
