Мендоса отметил, что криминальных признаков гибели Хэкмена и его супруги нет, причину их смерти он не назвал. «Все, что я могу сказать, это то, что мы находимся в процессе предварительного расследования смерти и ждем одобрения ордера на обыск», – сказал он.
26 февраля Хэкмену исполнилось 95 лет, его жене было 63 года. В браке они жили с 1991 года.
