В понедельник с мыса Канаверал во Флориде стартовала тяжелая космическая станция Europa Clipper, которая отправится к Европе, спутнику Юпитера, в поисках инопланетной жизни.
По мнению ученых, под ледяной поверхностью спутника Юпитера скрывается огромный океан, в два раза превышающий по объему все земные океаны, и вот в нем-то и может быть жизнь.
Станцию Europa Clipper вывела в космос тяжелая ракета частной компании SpaceX.
Europa Clipper последует за европейским зондом JUICE, который стартовал к Юпитеру еще в прошлом году, однако обгонит его в пути, воспользовавшись притяжением других планет, и прибудет к месту назначения первой.
Это произойдет не ранее 2030 года и теоретически может в корне поменять наши представления о жизни в Солнечной системе.
