The Economist указывает, что под угрозой - крупнейшая шахта по добыче коксующегося угля в Украине «Красноармейская Западная» и Покровский горно-обагатительный комбинат.
В 2021 году Украина занимала 14 место в мире по производству стали, но в прошлом году она опустилась на 24 место. С утратой крупнейшей шахты, где добывается уголь для металлургии, РФ удастся «уничтожить оставшуюся сталелитейную промышленность Украины».
Причем, говорится в статье, для этого необязательно брать Покровск.
«По мере продвижения российские войска попытаются отключить электроснабжение и перекрыть главную дорогу, по которой уголь поступает на запад к оставшимся сталелитейным заводам. Затем они сделают то же самое на другой меньшей шахте по добыче коксующегося угля в 18 км к северу от Удачного, в Доброполье», - пишет британский журнал.
Вчера о той же проблеме написал амерканский журнал Foreign Policy.

"We're seeing really dramatic moves, and it's all really tied to Ukraine right now, and in a secondary way, in terms of interest rates," Octavio Marenzi, CEO of Opimas, told Yahoo Finance Live on Thursday.
