Der 62-Jährige solle unter anderem die Ungleichgewichte im Außenhandel beseitigen und das Wachstum der Wirtschaft in den Vordergrund stellen, hieß es in einer Mitteilung des Republikaners.
Bessent ist Gründer des Hedgefonds Key Square Group. Er war zuvor Chief Investment Officer bei Soros Fund Management des US-Milliardärs George #Soros und gilt als Experte für globale Makro-Investments. Er war bereits im Wahlkampf ein enger Berater Trumps.
