Данное назначение состоялось в рамках проекта налогового администрирования, осуществляемого департаментом Международного валютного фонда по налогово-бюджетным вопросам. Отметим, что Модестас Каселяускас имеет многолетний опыт работы в налоговых органах Литовской Республики, а с 2005 по 2014 являлся руководителем Государственной налоговой инспекции при Министерстве финансов Литвы. Назначенный советник будет помогать ГНК и Минфину с разработкой и внедрением стратегии среднесрочной реформы налогового администрирования на 2019-2023 годы. В задачи Модестаса Каселяускаса входит содействие преобразованию сферы в высокотехнологичную, автоматизированную, отвечающую современным стандартам, а также не коррумпированную налоговую службу.
