В столице Финляндии примерно 40 публичных библиотек и большое число библиотек при учебных заведениях.

Одна из самых красивых - Национальная библиотека (листайте фото). Это один из самых известных памятников имперской архитектуры начала 19 века в Финляндии. Крупнейшая и старейшая академическая библиотека Финляндии. Библиотека отвечает за сбор, описание, хранение национального печатного наследия Финляндии и уникальных коллекций, находящихся в ее ведений. Эти коллекции включают в себя более трех миллионов книг и периодических изданий, а еще массу оцифрованных материалов.

Здание спроектировал Карл Людвиг Энгель, его строительство было завершено в 1840 году. Национальная библиотека Финляндии подверглась масштабной реконструкции между 2013 и
2015 годами.
