Согласно данным Росстата, число умерших в РФ, когда коронавирус был идентифицирован и стал основной причиной смерти, в 2020 году составило 86 498 случаев. Кроме того, в 17 470 случаях вирус предполагается как основная причина смерти. Еще в 13 524 случаях коронавирус оказал существенное влияние на развитие смертельных осложнений, а в 44 937 случаях коронавирус был диагностирован у умершего, но ее причины были другими.
Общая смертность в России в декабре 2020 года составила 243,2 тысячи человек против 149,2 тысячи человек, в целом за 2020 год умерло 2,124 миллиона человек против 1,801 тысячи человек.

Multiple pro-Kremlin media figures circulated the post's false claims, including prominent Russian journalist Vladimir Soloviev and the state-controlled Russian outlet RT, according to the DFR Lab's report. However, the perpetrators of such frauds are now adopting new methods and technologies to defraud the investors. Some people used the platform to organize ahead of the storming of the U.S. Capitol in January 2021, and last month Senator Mark Warner sent a letter to Durov urging him to curb Russian information operations on Telegram.
