Раньше на участке от ул. Карякина до детского сада № 216 стояли незаконные гаражи и валялся мусор. Территорию очистили и создали новое общественное пространство.
Сквер носит имя Героя России С. В. Палагина. Там высадили новые кустарники, выложили плиткой тротуарные дорожки и установили скамейки.
