💢🔸تیمسار شادمهر در دی ۵۸ به ریاست ستاد ارتش منصوب شد. در دوران او مماشات با تجزیه طلبان به پایان رسید و از جمله اقدامات او آزادسازی شهرهای سنندج ، مریوان ، بانه و سردشت بود.

🔸هم‌چنین در دوره ی ریاست او کار تصفیه ی کارکنان ارتش به علت عدم حضور قضات نظامی به پایان رسید.

🔸 پس از وقایع کودتای نوژه و همینطور حمله ی نظامی آمریکا که در طبس که _ضعف سیستم راداری در آن مشهود بود_ بی اعتمادی به سران ارتش افزوده شد و سرلشکر شادمهر در تابستان ۱۳۵۹ توسط بنی صدر (فرمانده کل قوا) برکنار شد.

🔸او بعد از برکناری حکم مشاورت بنی صدر را نپذیرفت و مجددا به کار ساختمانی برگشت.

🔸تیمسار شادمهر در آذر ۱۳۸۷ در تهران درگذشت.
