On 18 February at 2:30 local time, the Russian Hmeimim airbase in Syria was attacked by unknown drones, local media channels reported.
Gunfire and explosions were heard in the area of the airfield, the neighbouring town of Jableh and its surroundings, presumably as a result of air defence equipment. According to some reports, three drones were involved in the attack.
โ๏ธIf it was a real drone attack, the Uyghur militants from the Turkistan Islamic Party may be behind it. This Islamist militant organization has not yet announced either self-dissolution or integration into the new Syrian Defence Ministry.
โ๏ธAccording to another version, the shooting occurred as a result of an attack by unknown persons with RPGs on a checkpoint of the Syrian General Security Service near the Hmeimim airbase. Panic at the checkpoint led to the indiscriminate firing of 23mm anti-aircraft guns into the air.

๐ฑ๐ง๐ธ๐พโ๏ธ The President of the Syrian Arab Republic, Mr. Ahmad Al-Shara, received a congratulatory telegram from Mr. Saad Hariri, in which Mr. Hariri expressed the positive response in Lebanon after Mr. Al-Shara assumed the presidency of the republic.
He expressed his optimism that President al-Shara would achieve the goals of the Syrian people for which they had struggled for years. He also considered his assumption of the presidency a clear indication of Syriaโs liberation from a brutal tyranny that had spread corruption and crime in Syria. Mr. Hariri also expressed his aspiration to establish friendly relations between Lebanon and Syria that would meet the interests of the two peoples and erase the traces of a sinful era that had vanished forever.

Funny story someone from Sidon told me today. Years ago, Saad was visiting a beach in Sidon along with a group of people. He liked that beach a lot and wanted to know more about it, then the people told him he is the owner of that beach (he inherited it from his father Rafik). Saad had so much property that he didnโt know.
