اما دانشمندان در جریان تحقیقات خود به یک مورد خلافِ این نظر هم برخوردند و آن گیاه چای کوهی بود. تحقیقات زیادی نشان داده بود که چای کوهی برای درمان افسردگی موثرست. تلاش هایی برای جدا کردن ماده اصلی چای کوهی انجام شد که تصور می‌شد که هیپرفورین hyperforin یا hyperisin باشد. ولی هنگامی که این ترکیبات آزمایش شدند معلوم شد که آنها به اندازه خود گیاه موثر نیستند. در این مورد ویژه ، دیدگاه گیاه درمانگران سنتی درست بود. به عبارت دیگر به نظر می‌رسد که فواید چای کوهی به علت ترکیبی از مواد شیمیایی‌ست که هر کدام اثر دیگری را تقویت می کند.

Official government accounts have also spread fake fact checks. An official Twitter account for the Russia diplomatic mission in Geneva shared a fake debunking video claiming without evidence that "Western and Ukrainian media are creating thousands of fake news on Russia every day." The video, which has amassed almost 30,000 views, offered a "how-to" spot misinformation. "There are a lot of things that Telegram could have been doing this whole time. And they know exactly what they are and they've chosen not to do them. That's why I don't trust them," she said. The message was not authentic, with the real Zelenskiy soon denying the claim on his official Telegram channel, but the incident highlighted a major problem: disinformation quickly spreads unchecked on the encrypted app. Since January 2022, the SC has received a total of 47 complaints and enquiries on illegal investment schemes promoted through Telegram. These fraudulent schemes offer non-existent investment opportunities, promising very attractive and risk-free returns within a short span of time. During the invasion of Ukraine, Pavel Durov has wrestled with this issue a lot more prominently than he has before. Channels like Donbass Insider and Bellum Acta, as reported by Foreign Policy, started pumping out pro-Russian propaganda as the invasion began. So much so that the Ukrainian National Security and Defense Council issued a statement labeling which accounts are Russian-backed. Ukrainian officials, in potential violation of the Geneva Convention, have shared imagery of dead and captured Russian soldiers on the platform.
