Преступление вскрылось еще в 2022 году, а 29 декабря 2023 года суд приговорил их к реальным срокам - 6 лет и 4 года, но эпизод с получением взятки в 5,5 млн рублей остался недоказанным. Обе стороны остались недовольны решением. В мае оно было отменено, а дело направлено на новое рассмотрение, по итогам которого Алиев и Фирстов 12 сентября получили 8 и 9 лет колонии строгого режима.

"We as Ukrainians believe that the truth is on our side, whether it's truth that you're proclaiming about the war and everything else, why would you want to hide it?," he said.
