Православные христиане 30 ноября отмечают день памяти преподобного Никона, игумена Радонежского.
Преподобный Никон в юном возрасте, услышав об ангельской жизни Преподобного Сергия Радонежского, пришел к нему с просьбой постричь его в иноки. Великий игумен, провидя будущего подвижника и испытывая его смирение, отослал Никона в Высоцкий монастырь, где тот принял постриг и священство. Укрепившись в добродетелях, святой вернулся к наставнику, став его помощником, а затем преемником.
Преподобный Никон поддерживал все, что было установлено преподобным Сергием: любил молитву и пост, трудился наравне с братией. После разорения обители татарским войском Никон с братией начали работы по ее восстановлению. В это время были обретены нетленные мощи Преподобного Сергия, для упокоения которых преподобный Никон воздвиг Троицкий собор.
Взирая на благочестие наших великих святых, будем подражать их Вере, уму и отваге.
