В финансировании хора отказал и. о. ректора вуза Игорь Мурог. Он заявил музыкантам, что он им ничего не обещал, а по поводу оплаты сотрудникам следует обращаться к предыдущему ректору Олегу Сулице.
Хор был лауреатом множества международных конкурсов и считался гордостью РГУ.
