В 2023 году была разработана методика для расчета потребного парка вагонов под предъявляемый объем грузов. Согласно методике, в 2024 году парк излишних вагонов под предъявляемый объем груза составлял 250 тыс. вагонов. При расчете на февраль 2025 года парк, необходимый для перевозки груза, составляет 970 тыс. вагонов, то есть порядка 400 тыс. вагонов - это излишний парк, который находится на путях общего пользования и оказывает влияние на перевозку.
