محققان بر روی صخره‌هایی واقع در منطقه «سرانیای دی لا لیندوسا» آمازون در کلمبیا طرح‌های هنری متنوع و خیره‌کننده‌ای یافته‌اند که می‌گویند مربوط به باورهای ماورائی مردم بومی آمازون در هزاران سال پیش است.
جیمی همپسون، باستان‌شناس در دانشگاه اکستر بریتانیا، در این خصوص می‌گوید: «من در تمام قاره‌ها با هنر صخره‌ای و گروه‌های بومی کار کرده‌ام اما هرگز این شانس را نداشته‌ام که به این شکلی که اینجا تجربه می‌کنم، شاهد روایت دست اول اعتقادات بومیان از طرح‌های هنری باشم.»
