О его похоронах сообщил глава Краснояружского района Андрей Миськов на своей странице во «ВКонтакте». По данным «Пепла» Шубин погиб 15 сентября 2024 года.
Из-за того, что «Пепел» регулярно находит в день более одного погибшего, порядковые номера погибших отстают от их общего количества в сводке. Сергей Шубин— 944-й из 1152 погибших.
