Головной из трех заказанных эсминцев типа KDX-III второй серии был начат постройкой 16 февраля 2021 г., официально заложен 5 октября 2021 г. и планируется к сдаче южнокорейскому флоту в ноябре 2024 г. Корабли второй серии должны иметь стандартное водоизмещением 8100 тонн, длину 170 метров и оснащаться комплексной системой оружия AEGIS со 128-зарядными модернизированными УВПУ K-VLS-II и ЗРК K-SAAM южнокорейского производства, а также иметь усиленное противолодочное вооружение.
