I've been putting this off because I don't want to just be... alarmist. But furries, queer art enjoyers, porn lovers, fans of art obscene or otherwise, I have a request for you.

Please, archive as much as you can of your favorite art as you can. Save everything you hold precious locally, mirror it, make copies, don't just leave it in your art site favorites collections.

I think we're going to see a digital book burning the likes of which will erase irreplaceable parts of our collective cultures and knowledge. With porn and LGBTQIA+ expression bans on the USA on the horizon, I believe the internet as we see it now will cease to exist. I want us to preserve what we've gained through these unprecedented times.

A proposed bill in the Oklahoma legislature aims to make it illegal to have, buy, view, or distribute "any depiction, image, or film that shows sexual conduct, intercourse or lewd exhibition of genitals for sexual stimulation of the viewer." Make no mistake, this will be interpreted to extreme ends if it's passed. Other states will follow in their own attempts and our ability to express ourselves will be squeezed more and more.

It's important to note that while these bans will never rid the entire internet of LGBTQIA+, adult, and transgressive content (just as it hasn't been able to stamp out actually harmful things like CSEM and human trafficking)- I believe the fascists can still do a lot of irreparable damage to the communities we've built. Little doubt, it may be illegal to have any kind of porn or queer media on your device. But I think if it gets that bad, you're probably already an outlaw by existing as it is, so fuck it, right?

Maybe things won't get as bad as I worry they will, but until the brewing storm is over... do what you can to save the art you love.
