Прам утверждает, что половой отбор осуществляется посредством настоящего эстетического чувства самок, то есть ориентацией на красоту саму по себе. Он отвергает адаптационистскую интерпретацию полового отбора (что красота узора самца сигнализирует высокое качество генов) и делает субъективное чувство прекрасного у животных механизмом одного из основных двигателей биологической эволюции - полового отбора.
Другими словами – которыми охотно пользуется сам автор – без свободного эстетического выбора самок не было бы эволюции как мы её знаем сегодня.

Ukrainian forces have since put up a strong resistance to the Russian troops amid the war that has left hundreds of Ukrainian civilians, including children, dead, according to the United Nations. Ukrainian and international officials have accused Russia of targeting civilian populations with shelling and bombardments.
