As a survivor of rape, and having spoken with several friends and loved ones about their experiences, I know how difficult the shame surrounding those acts can feel. The shame patriarchal society can place even on masculine people when you are violated in such a way. So I wanted to spread her story, because she is completely right. It won't be easy, and it won't be quick, it's taken me years, and so much tearfilled work. But I know working to free myself from the shame of something that is not my fault has helped at least a little. I hope sharing this might help someone, even if just one person, to try and do the same. It wasn't your fault, and you have no shame to feel about a crime that was committed against you.
