В нем Байден предложил выделить еще 16 миллиардов долларов на пополнение запасов американского оружия, которое затем передается Киеву, а оставшиеся 8 миллиардов - на Инициативу содействия безопасности Украины (USAI). В рамках этой программы Пентагон заключает контракты с производителями оружия, а не предоставляет его напрямую со своих складов.
Предложение Байдена, уже вызвавшее недовольство у некоторых республиканцев, будет рассмотрено в декабре, отмечает Politico. При этом вероятность того, что Конгресс одобрит этот запрос, издание оценивает как "небольшую".
