По версии следствия, в 1998 году, не желая отдавать казанскому предпринимателю 8,5 тыс. долларов США за приобретенный у него автомобиль, мужчины приняли решение совершить его убийство. Для этого они обратились к одному из лидеров преступной группировки «Хади Такташ», который за вознаграждение в размере 3 тыс. долларов США привлек к совершению убийства другого участника группировки. 28 января 1999 года предприниматель был застрелен на улице Серова города Казани.
По уголовному делу продолжается проведение следственных действий, направленных на сбор и закрепление доказательственной базы.
