Как он рассказал «Медиазоне», утром его освободили из колонии, после чего в наручниках вывезли к границе с Казахстаном и передали местным пограничникам (Филинков является гражданином Казахстана).
Филинков отбывал срок по террористической статье, и, пока он был в заключении, ФСИН объявила о «нежелательности» его пребывания в России. Теперь мужчина вместе с женой Евгенией Кулаковой направился на север Казахстана, где живет его мать.
